NMDC National Mineral Development Corporation India’s Single Largest Iron Ore Producer
National Mineral Development Corporation NMDC is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. These mines are involved in the whole process of inception involved in the exploration of wide range of minerals. National Mineral Development Corporation NMDC is India’s single largest iron ore producer, presently producing about 30 million tonnes of iron ore. Its units are situated at 3 mines Bailadila Deposit-14/11C, Bailadila Deposit-5, 10/11A of Chhattisgarh State and Donimalai Iron Ore Mines situated at Karnataka State.
The produced iron ore pellets produced from Bailadila deposits has substituted the iron ore pellets in sponge iron making because of its metallurgical and chemical properties. The product has become an important raw material for three major gas-based sponge iron steel producers like Essar Steel, Ispat industries and Vikram Ispat. The Bailadila unit meets the demand of Vishakhapatnam Steel plant also.
The demand of the steel is in increasing a lot. Therefore, National Mineral Development Corporation NMDC is gearing itself to meet the demands by enhancing production capabilities of existing mines and opening up new mines too. To increase the production capability it has opened its new plants at Bailadila sector and Kumaraswamy in Donimalai sector.
